Harmony for Humanity

The purpose of this blog was to keep students, their families, and my friends aware of what is going on in my professional life. As I begin my retirement, the purpose will change.

I grew up in a wonderful town, Harvey, Illinois and had wonderful music teachers; I attended a number of universities, but DePauw and Loyola had the most impact on me. I enjoy finding old friends from New Orleans now, especially after H. Katrina.

Thanks for a wonderful Summer!

Our "no concert concert" went off quite nicely last nite! As is ALWAYS the case, those students who are terrified of performing were absent, which always befuddles me! It is JUST for fun to show your friends and parents how much you have learned in such a short time. We also need to increase the number of McEachern students who attend; this camp is for you, and I gladly share it with students from other schools who are not as fortunate as we are to have our teachers and facilities. I am looking forward to the two weeks off, and then I will be ready to go. This is my 34th year of teaching, and my 16th year at McEachern.

Summer Camp is off to a great start!

We have about 60 students enrolled this year, along with four instructors and one student aide. Both groups are doing well, sight reading their new music and working on playing skills provided by the various instructors. I STILL need to see more McEachern players there, and will send out another mass phone call tonight. I'm really looking forward to the annual "no-concert concert" on the last meeting, July 24th. Hopefully, Mrs. Constantino will be there; last year it was her first official concert as our new principal.
